Reading Time is Learning Time

Books I'm reading right now:
  • Reading Hacking: Art of Exploitation: Great book so far. I'm on chapter 0x300, exploitation. Learning the basics like buffer overflows and how they really work. A lot of the stuff I've learned about exploits has been theoretical up till now. Going to be going over this chapter several times to really understand the concepts.
  • C Primer Plus: Haven't gotten far into this one yet. The reviews have been good and it also comes highly recommended by friends.

On My Bookshelf

There's not enough time in the day to learn everything I need to know about RE and security in general. However, I'm taking it one step at a time. I often find that I start on one thing, get bored or overwhelmed, and end up never finishing it. This is especially true about books I start reading. Here's what's on my bookshelf.
Not to say that I'll get through all these books (yeah I know I'm a slacker =), but right now I'm determined to finish at least one. I plan on going through them in the order above. I'm really into the whole reversing thing now so that's why the RE ones get top billing.

Anyway, on to the point of this post. As I read through these books I plan on putting up notes on what I've learned from each chapter I read and maybe a chapter summary and a review at the end of the book. That's the plan and hopefully I'll stick with it. Check out the "Bookshelf" links on the right to see more.

Come On In (Wipe Your Feet On The Mat =)

Welcome to the House of 1000 Hacks where I attempt to take you along on my journey to seek knowledge. Here is where I will post my thoughts, findings, rants, and general information on security and hacking related topics. I'm still pretty new to the field, 1 year full time experience, so I think it will be interesting to watch me grow. Hope you enjoy the posts and please provide comments, questions, advice, and critiques because that is the best way for me to learn. Ok with that out the way let's start...
